July 27, 2014

Well I can just start off by saying how embarrassed I am. You watched my video. That was probably the worst edper we have ever done and it was just the worst and awkward because it was so close to our faces. And we didnt understand what president wanted us to do so we totally did it wrong. And I was just so nervous and there was no emotion or anything. Pretty much me and Sister Vargas did NOT want that to go on facebook. But Im glad you liked it. This week was good though. Presidents training was the best! I loved it and learned so much. President is seriously the best and most inspired person ever. I really liked how he starting his training. He said that we need to be the missionary we want to be today. We cant wait until tomorrow. Today we need to be obedient, today we need to do everything and really be who we want to be because if we wait for tomorrow, it will never come. I really liked it. Then we talked about a lot of other stuff and it was all just really great. Then, we got a surprise this week. The sisters in Bata ward were changing apartments but their new apartment didnt have electricity yet so they moved in with us! So we have four sisters in my house now. But they will move out tomorrow. But its been a blast and Ive learned a lot from them already. I love talking to them at night. Its great. But it was interesting because this is the smallest apartment Ive lived in and its the only one that Ive had other sisters live with us. This is my first apartment that is only one story and its really small so its been funny. But its great. Also, did I tell you that we dont have enough water pressure in the morning so we have to bucket shower? Yeah, every morning. Ive actually gotten pretty good though so its okay. We still have some great investigators and they are doing great. Did I tell you about Aaron and Dudez? They are great. Dudez has been looking for the truth for so long and he has a ton of questions. Its really different because hes the first investigator that Ive taught that isnt sure if he believes in the Bible. So its been interesting. But its going really well so far. We also taught someone this week named Jitmark and after everything I said, he would yell "Amen!" It was really funny. This week Rex also came back. He was taught before I got here but my first week he went home to Sagay because he had an eye infection. But he came back this week and wow he is so prepared. Hes really great and hes going to get baptized on Aug 23. Also last night I went on splits with Ivy. A member here in 5th ward. Shes the best. I really enjoyed working with her. It was great. And while we were working, Nonoy Al, a recent convert, gave us coke and it was funny because they only had three small ones and one big one and they said that since Im the tallest, I have to drink the big one. So it was great because I love when people give us soda since we arent allowed to buy it. So its great. Overall it was a great week. I really liked it. Im glad you all had a great week too! Glad you enjoyed girls camp! Im not gonna lie Im a little disappointed that no one wore the mullet this year. But dont worry, next year Ill be back for it. Haha. I love you all and I hope you have a great week!

Hello Family!

I had a pretty good week this week. Some pretty cool things happened. Last Monday, right after I finished emailing and while I was waiting for Sister Vargas, I saw a guy and he was American. He started talking to me and hes from New York. He has been living here for 6 years working and teaching. All he knows how to say in Ilonggo is how to ask for a glass of cold water. It was really weird talking to him actually because I realized how different English is here and in America. But I realized how blessed I am (and the other missionaries) because of the gift of tongues. He has lived here 6 years and cant talk to anyone unless they speak English. Ive been here 10 months and I can talk to almost anyone. It was cool. Also we had a family home evening at the Desaldes family home. It was a lot of fun. I will send you a picture. They are members in our ward but recent converts live near by and less active members and investigators so it was a lot of fun. We also have some really good investigators. I dont think Ive told you about them. Nelia is great. Shes been an investigator for a long time. She hasnt been baptized because she said she was waiting for something. But this week she committed to be baptized! Shes doing really well and I think shes finally realizing that this church is true. Its great. Her son is the one that got baptized my first week here in 5th ward. We also found Aaron and his friends this week. They are 6 guys who are great. They are really interested and have some great questions. They really have a great desire to know the truth. I think they will progress well. Also, did I tell you about Angelina? She the mother of a member who was baptized a few years ago and also a recent convert. I dont know why she has never taught before but now she is letting us teach her and she is progressing well. She has come to church two weeks now and is going to be baptized in August! Im excited. Her daughter, Queenie, who has been a member for a few years is really excited. Its great! So everything is going great here! I feel like I had another thing to tell you but I dont remember. Tomorrow I have mission presidents training. Im super excited! I love trainings with president! Its gonna be great! My hair has also faded a ton. It looks a lot like it did before I left on my mission. A lot of the tops of my shirts got dyed pink because the red came out when I would wash my hair. Its funny. So now its more brown. Its good. I hope you all have a great week! I love you all so much!!!!

So, I have a confession to make. I really hope you all arent mad at me. Especially Ashley. For my birthday, I decided I really wanted straight hair. I was just very sick of my curly hair and I wanted it straight. So I decided to get my hair rebonded. So I have straight hair now! I really like it and it turned out really good and its like a dream come true because I can wake up in the morning and wash my hair and it just drys perfectly straight. So its really good. The reason I hope you arent mad at me is because there was a little mistake made while they were rebonding my hair. There was a little communication problem and the guy doing my hair ended up putting something in my hair that dyed it. It was very stressful. When he put it in, he accidently dyed my hair bright red. As in, a color that isnt allowed for missionaries. I started crying. So he ran to his house and got the only other color he had. Brown. So I have dark hair again. I really hope you arent mad at me. It doesnt look bad. Everyone here actually loves it more than my red hair. And I will send a picture. Just dont be mad please. I like it though because I love having straight hair again! So its okay. I had a great week though! I had a great birthday! We went and ate ice cream cake and it was so great! I loved it! And I got my package! It was so great! Thank you so much!!!!! I absolutely loved it! Thank you for everything! It was perfect. I wore the dress Ash sent on my birthday. It was great. Yesterday I had to speak in church. Normally they just ask us to bear our testimony but yesterday I was actually a speaker. I dont think it went very well. But it was okay because everyone here just goes crazy during church anyway so I dont think anyone actually hear what I was saying. So its okay. Thank you for all the pictures! I loved them all! But wait, you went on a cruise?!?!?! And you didnt even tell me? Whats up with that? But anyway, I had a great week. We have some really good investigators. They are progressing very well. On Wednesday we had zone training. It was good. I learned a lot. I like being back in Bacolod North zone. And I know a lot of the missionaries here so it was fun. I liked being able to ask about my recent converts in Silay. They are doing good but my first baptism, Kynan, I dont know if you remember him, has practically dropped off the face of the earth. They said they always try to visit him but hes never home. It made me a little sad. But they will find him and he will come back. Over all it was a good week. I love you all! Thanks for all your support. Please dont be mad at me. Sorry this is so short. I dont know what to say. But I love you all! Have a great week!

City Life!

Hello family!!!

I had a great week! This week I transferred! Now Im back in Bacolod. Hence the subject line city life... Im not going to lie, its been a big adjustment being back in the city. Its very different from Cadiz. But I love it. Im serving in Bacolod 5th ward and guess what? Im back in Bacolod North stake! The same stake as my first area, Silay. Its pretty crazy. Im right next to everything now though. And its freezing here. Seriously, I didnt realize how hot it was in Cadiz. I had to pull out my sweatshirt while we were studying. Its crazy. Sister Vargas will get hot and turn on the fan and I put out my sweatshirt because Im too cold. Oh my new companion is Sister Vargas. Shes awesome! I love her. She goes home in August though so we will only be together one transfer. Shes really great though and a hard worker. I love it! Things are great in 5th ward. I really like it. And guess what? You would never guess what happened yesterday. Remember how Im the only one in the family who isnt musical? Well, yesterday I had to play the piano in church. I only know one hymn so the others we just sang without a piano but I had to play nearer my god to thee for the closing hymn. Holy cow I was so scared. My hands were shaking and I messes up about a thousand times. But it was okay. It was my first and last time playing the piano in church. I had to play because the pianist didnt show up because it was raining. We have some good investigators here though. On Saturday we had two guys get baptized and they are great! They seriously are the coolest people ever. They are truly converted. The 4th of July was funny. I decided to wear my red white and blue but the problem was, I dont really have a 4th of July outfit. So I wore my red shirt with a blue skirt and I think I just looked stupid. But I didnt care. No one here celebrates it obviously but I still did. And my birthday is this week! Me and Sister Vargas are already planning what we will do. Obviously we are still working but we are going to eat lunch at a place that sells ice cream cake! I didnt even know they had that here but they do and Im super excited! So far this is a great area! Im still adjusting but I love it so far! It sounds like you all had a great week! Mom I loved your email today! I loved reading about your conversion story. It was great. Thank you! I feel like I had other things I was going to tell you but I dont remember and I dont have much time. I hope you all have a great week! I love you all! Dont worry mom I will take a picture on my birthday! Love you!

Me on the 4th of July! This is in my room. Do you like my minion pillow? And my pillow case from the bakery workers!
Throwback to Silay. This is my favorite little girl. Mary Grace. When we go visit them, she does my hair. Not like the other pictures, but she just plays with it. She is the cutest little girl in the world and I will miss her so much.
Throwback to Silay. The night me and Sister De Castro got the call that I would transfer, we realized we didn't have a picture together. So we hurried and took one.

Another picture of me and Mary Grace in Silay.

Seriously? This was so big. Sister Vargas bought squid and this came in it. It was huge and Sister Vargas was too scared to eat it so I took a picture.
